The Roles and Responsibilities of the Promotion Panels
The Promotion Panel is responsible for overseeing the assessment of promotion applications from initial review through to final recommendations. Its roles and responsibilities cover pre‑meeting preparation, evaluation and decision‑making, as outlined below:
- Advises the Chair and Secretary (by circulation) in deciding actions to take before the meeting.
- Reviews applications, ensuring there is a complete set of documentation for each applicant.
- Considers each application at the meeting, evaluating, banding, and scoring the applicant’s achievements objectively against the relevant evaluative criteria.
- Records all decisions made against the relevant Assessment Criteria and School/Institution-specific Indicators of Excellence.
- Decides which applicants meet the required standard of excellence and should be promoted, producing a rank order of total scores for each office/post.
- Agrees a Feedback Statement for each applicant not recommended for promotion, to be provided at their feedback meeting with their Head of Institution.
- Reports the outcomes to the ACP 10-12 School Committee.
Makes recommendations to the General Board concerning applicants that should receive promotion for each post. The General Board receives these recommendations and confirms the promotion outcomes.
