R pathway

In evaluating applications, committees will expect to see a rising career trajectory.  When reviewing applications, committees can consider evidence spanning an applicant’s entire career, although particular focus should be given to their achievements since their last promotion/appointment.

The scores and performance descriptors (bandings) set out in the tables below should be used to summarise the description of achievement in relation to the Assessment Criteria and will be used in the majority of applications. In exceptional circumstances, the alternative scoring models may be used (see here).

Scoring Associate Research Professorships (Grade 10), Research Professorships (Grades 11 and 12) and Clinical Research Professorships

Applications will be assessed against the following evaluative criteria and standard scoring methodology: 

• Research and Researcher Development (70/100); and
• Service to the University and the Academic Community (30/100). 

In exceptional circumstances, it may be appropriate to depart from the standard scoring model. This should be on an individual basis, to alter the weighting as follows:

• First alternative: Research and Researcher Development is increased to 80 and Service is reduced to 20 points; or
• Second alternative: Service is increased to 40 and Research and Researcher Development is reduced to 60.
