Important notes regarding application details
Applicants on the R&T pathway
When preparing a promotion application, the ACP Application Portal automatically populates an applicant’s appointment start date using data in the University’s HR system. However, there are some circumstances when this appointment start date may not be the appropriate date to refer to for the purposes of promotion applications, including the change in academic titles in October 2021, and the change in title of Grade 9 academics on passing probation (from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor). These title changes appear as new appointments in the HR system. Committees should therefore be mindful of the appointment start dates shown in the application form and must refer to the applicant’s CV to determine their professional history.
Applicants on the T&S pathway
In 2022, the University introduced the Teaching and Scholarship pathway, following approval of the Joint Report of the Council and the General Board on the introduction of an Academic Career Pathways (Teaching and Scholarship) scheme. Since its introduction, many employees moved from their previous academic-related contracts to Academic (Teaching and Scholarship) contracts, as well as changing their job title. However, their duties did not change. These changes were made in the University’s HR system with the relevant effective date. Committees should therefore be mindful that applicants may have been in their current role for a longer period than the system suggests, as despite their contract type and title changing, they may have been doing the same role for a longer period.
In addition, some employees have been through the ACP transfer process to transfer from an Academic (Research and Teaching) contract to an Academic (Teaching and Scholarship) contract.
Committees should refer to the applicant’s CV to determine their professional history.
